Find the exact manual
Record the model and serial number before an outage. Generac provides a manual lookup so owners can identify documents for their equipment. Use the manufacturer’s equivalent service for other brands.
Do not apply a Guardian interval to a Next Generation model, or an air-cooled schedule to a liquid-cooled system, solely because they share a manufacturer name. The Generac maintenance guide discusses those distinctions; your manual sets the actual interval.

Arrange a service contact before you need one. If an alarm or abnormal condition occurs, follow the manual’s directions and seek qualified assistance rather than repeatedly resetting the system.
Account for service interruptions
Discuss what happens to your supported loads while the generator is unavailable for a required check or repair. Do not assume a whole-house installation provides uninterrupted power through every maintenance event. Planning for those intervals is especially important where occupants depend on equipment remaining available.
